As the contest for the 2027 election sensitizes and gears up, the notable ubiquitous Cooperative Motor Unions with large membership population in Abia state, has declared that it would tantamount to waste of resources for any one to contest against or challenge the re-election of the Abia state governor Dr Alex Otti if he decides to contest for a second term in 2027.
President of the Union, Comrade Chukwuma Azode alias China, who declared this at Aba, the Abia state main business hub, when members of his led various organised transport unions staged a two-million man match in solidarity with governor Otti’s various road infrastructural development across the state
Declaring the unions’ unalloyed support for Otti’s administration, he opined that any opposition to or challenge against the reelection of Governor Alex Otti in 2027 would amount to being irrational , insensible, risk-taking, waste of resources and futile effort on the part of his opposer or challenger.
He also said that with governor Otti’s visible and palpable unprecedented achievements in various sectors across the state , he would expect that a sensible politician would not contest the governorship election with Governor Otti.
“From what we are seeing, I don’t think any sensible person should involve himself in anything concerning elections, because from what we are seeing, His Excellency, governor Otti should serve 8 years of two terms and not be stopped midway” noting however, the right of interested people to so contest.
“So, for now, any opposition that is coming out is taking very big risk, because we, Abians are in support of governor Otti for now, and no other person. And all the motor unions in Abia State are also endorsing him for 2027.
” This our Millions man match is not political, and I believe that there are a lot of people that love Dr. Alex Otti, that are here, and most of them are from different political backgrounds who are here as lovers of Dr. Alex Otti, based on his good works in Abia State.
“We are here to show solidarity to His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti to celebrate all his good works in Abia State, Within his two years in office, he has shown a great capacity.
“So, this is the reason we are gathering here to celebrate him. We have a lot of people residing in Aba, which was the place he had promised to develop more, so that more investors coming in to invest,” Azode stressed
Corroborating, the state Chairman of Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, (ASTOPU) Comrade Victor Azubuike said the rally was organised to appreciate the smooth movement in Abia especially Aba, asserting that Aba transporters are the most beneficiaries of what is happening under the present Otti administration, for which he commended Governor Otti and his good leadership
Governor Otti, of the Labour Party, is yet to make his stand on his 2027 political aspiration known but when asked , he said that his intent would be to consult God, and thereafter, go by the Divine inspiration .
