An APC Group in Abia state tagged ‘Renewed Hope Partners’ ( RHP ) rose from a meeting held at its Ikwuano LGA office intensifying efforts to stop the re- election of the Abia state governor Dr Alex Otti of the Labour Party for a second term in 2027 if he recontests.
Rather, it discussed strategies that will make the APC produce the next state democratically elected governor in 2027 who will succeed governor Otti, in addition to working for the re-election of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC , describing his performance in two years, as positively impactful across the country including Abia state
Reportedly, RHP was founded by the Abia state born deputy Speaker of the House of Representative Hon Benjamin Kalu, (a member of the APC) , to serve as a platform that can positively sensitize, mobilize and galvanize public support for Tinubu’s re-election.
It was gathered that beside canvassing support for Tinubu’s re-election and emergence of next Abia state governor of APC extraction, RHP will in addition work for the actualization of the Deputy Speaker’s next political office aspiration which speculatively, is the office of the Abia state governor in 2027.
Speaking on the RHP joint meeting with the LGA APC members, the immediate past two-term representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Sam Onuigbo said that the meeting set in motion the articulation of president Tinubu’s laudable programmes achievements with the view to disseminating them to the public.
He listed some of these to include; the Renewed Hope Initiative ( RHI ) , stabilization of the economy, establishment of regional development commissions including that for the South East Development, NELFUND, the Fuel Subsidy Removal whose proceeds he said has greatly increased federal monthly allocation to the states and being used by state governors, including governor Dr Alex Otti, to develop their states, some doing so impressively.
According to the RHP, Abia state deserves and desires to be in the mainstream of the ruling APC at the federal level in order to reap the full benefits as equal stakeholders, and not remain in the opposition, and not getting fair shares of their national resources timelily.
According to the state APC Secretary, Mr Chidi Avajah, Abia state has to elect an APC government in 2027 as it is the federal level in 2027 with Tinubu as the president.
” Because it is not convenient, rewarding and beneficial to Abia to be in the opposition” said Avajah, who represented the State APC Chairman, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu at the meeting.
A member of the APC in the LGA Chief Chinedum Kanu, was asked why Governor Otti, that is widely applauded and ovated to have performed highly and impressively across the state during his two years in office and is still doing so, should not be re-elected for a second term in office.
He ( Kanu ) reacted, saying that despite Otti’s acclaimed performances, it is still possible to get a higher/ better performer or achiever governor ii ” Governor Otti has done very well in infrastructure development and reconstruction which his predecessors did not do much in. But a new governor or Otti’s successor, may come and attend to other sectors that Otti did not,j which will also be for the benefit of the entire state”.
