Abia state governor Dr Alex Otti has declared that he would forgive the deputy speaker of the house representatives, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu for verbally belittling his administration’s performance, and threatening to dethrone his administration democratically through the ballot in 2027.
Hon Kalu publicly announced this at Aba on 3rd October, 2025 during the commissioning of some roads reconstructed by governor Otti, which president Bola Tinubu did through the Works Minister, Engineer David Umahi.
Hon Kalu had announced that what governor Otti had done in the state was not commensurate with the states monthly income which he put at between N38-40 billion.
Otti who reacted when he was asked to do so during his October chat with journalist Thursday night, said that he would forgive him ( Hon Kalu), because he ( Otti ) believed that he ( Hon Kalu ) must have been terrified by Abia residents solidarity with his ( Otti) administration.
He said ” I guess that Hon Kalu has a few challenges with his hubris, and suffers from Information Deficiency Syndrome. I must therefore forgive him”.
Obviously reacting to Hon Kalu’s declared threat/vow to unseat his administration in 2027 election, governor Otti said that hence, he did not or do have the anointing to speak on what will happen in future, ” I know that all power belongs to God, who gives it to whoever He pleases”.
He however stated that hence Hon Kalu expectedly should be speaking credibly as the country’s number 6 Citizen he always stated he is, he ( Otti ) noted that many right-thinking people had reacted to his ( Hon Kalu’s) outbursts.
Governor Otti also faulted the deputy Speaker’s announced poise to sack his administration in 2027, noted that campaigns for 2027 election politics are still very far from being formally declared by the INEC in accordance with the extant laws provisions, to commence political activities.
He said that APC should know that Kalu’s announcement would be de-marketing them ( APC ).
” Let the Deputy Speaker maintain the peace as we have been doing , I am not bothered or threatened by his sack threats. Otti stated that despite calls and insinuations in some quarters, ” I have not decided or deciding to defect to any political party, I am still in Labour party”.
