The first and only university so far located within Abia state Capital/Metropolis, named Lux Mundi University ( Light to the World ) has been granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence some degree programmes in its two new Faculties of Engineering and Computing sciences with effect from 2025/2026 academic year
The approval was communicated to it by the NUC Acting Director, Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei stating accordingly in his letter that “The Executive Secretary (Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu) has considered and approved the establishment of Full-time mode of the following programmes to commence in the main campus of the university with effect from 2025/2026 academic year.
Girei listed the approved engineering programmes as ; Bachelor of Engineering , Computer Engineering,
Bachelor of Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering.
For Computing Sciences, the NUC approved ; Bachelor of Science, Software Engineering, Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, and Bachelor of Science, Cyber Security.
Reacting to this development, The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Paul Eidson, in a statement, commended NUC, the Executive Secretary, and all the officials that visited the university for resource verification prior to granting this approval.
He promised that Lux Mundi University, Umuahia will continue to collaborate and partner with international organizations to give the students the very best.
Also speaking the Pro-Chancellor through Professor Austin Uwakwe expressed appreciation to the Abia state Government for providing the university the conducive environment and support.
He stated that Lux Mundi University would continue to set new standards of excellence, reflecting the unprecedented achievements it has made in research, innovation, and community impact within this short time of its existence.
According to the Registrar of the university, Mrs Blessing Ibebunjo ” the university is proud of the erudite professors and highly qualified and committed lecturers, who personalize teaching and coaching to ensure that, “our pride” – the students commit to serious learning and scholarship.
She disclosed that a good number of prospective candidates for the six newly approved programmes have started changing to Lux Mundi University few days after JAMB listed the new programmes on Lux Mundi University JAMB CENTRAL ADMISSIONS PROCESSING SYSTEM
( JAMB CAPS ).
She therefore advised parents and candidates to quickly access their JAMB CAPS to change their hitherto Institution to Lux Mundi University, Ibeku, Umuahia and make their choice of programme, adding that by approving the new faculties of Engineering and Computing, JAMB has granted access to so many qualified candidates who before now, could not secure admission due to limited spaces.
