Dr Caleb Ajagba, who is the Chief of Staff ( COS ) to Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti has stated that acts of criminality have been reducing in the stat.
Hev attributed it to governor Otti administration’s focus on creating prosperity through productive engagement, empowerment of youths, and other hitherto jobless persons that considered crime as viable alternative .
He spoke when he received the new Executives of the Correspondents Chapel of the Abia State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ ) led by Comrades Steve Oko and Henrietta Ashikodi, Chairman and Secretary, respectively.
The COS who said that he had practised journalism, described Otti as a focussed governor that ” has not come to share money, but to create prosperity and true empowerment which is about helping people to be productive, not dependent”.
“That’s why you see that crime has reduced, as people are becoming more engaged and self-reliant. Otti came fully prepared for leadership and is transforming the state through prudent management and visionary governance”.
Dr Ajagba, a Political Scientist described journalists as key partners in the state’s growth, and commended them for their professionalism and objective reporting of state government activities, saying that Otti’s administration recognises the media as a vital part of governance, and the crucial role journalists play in informing the public and promoting accountability.
Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel Chairman , Comrade Steve Oko, lauded governor Otti’s palpable developmental initiatives in the state, saying ” from our observation as critical stakeholders, we can say without apologies that the emergence of His Excellency was a blessing to Abia state, not a mistake.
“He came with a clear vision for the transformation of Abia State, anyone visiting the Government House can immediately see and feel the difference, the new and befitting structures, the ambience, and the sense of order that reflect a serious commitment to excellence.
Oko who called for the strengthening of collaboration between the government and the Chapel, assured COS Ajagba, that members would continue to work almost round the clock to ensure they rationalize activities in Abia to report them objectively and professionally.
