Recently The Abia State Government through the partnership with Blue Giraffe Development Limited have successfully trained over 100 teacher’s on Second Cohort Smart Schools Initiative aimed at enhancing educational access and digital literacy in school system.
In keeping with his administration’s promise to redefine and transform the education sector and equipping Abia Teachers with 21st Century Pedagogy and Digital Teaching Knowledge in their Profession.
The Smart Schools teaching pedagogy a Technological driven enhancement system was also designed to boast the teaching skills and knowledge of Abia teachers.
The initiative did not only serve as a supreme Board for Digital Revolution Transformation but a redefine factor to future Teaching and Learning in the State’s School System.
During the period the teachers undergo a comprehensive Training on 21st Century Pedagogy and Digital Teaching and Learning Skills Demand.
The training, organized in partnership with Blue Giraffe Development Limited, is part of Governor Otti’s agenda to transform Abia’s education sector through digital learning and 21st-century teaching methods focusing on smart classroom management, blended learning, and digital pedagogy.
During the training the teachers were divided into six groups made creative presentations, including songs, drama, and classroom demonstrations, to showcase the knowledge and skills gained during the training.
Participants defined the concept of Smart Teaching emphasizing that smart learning enhances interactivity, makes teaching more exciting, and brings classroom concepts to life through technology..
Also the Training is in addition of other Trainings especially the official launching of Abia First School initiative aimed at equipping Abia Teachers with Digital Skills and knowledge to drive the Sustainable Development Goal in the Education Sector as well as complement the transformational development of the Governor Dr Alex Otti in the education Sector.
It is a known fact that the administration of Governor Alex Otti has also embarked on construction of new modern smart schools in the state in addition to reconstruction and retrofitting of public schools in the state to ensure Abia Pupils and Students have access to quality education as well as acquire knowledge in more conducive learning environment.
Today the State Government has also employed 5394 newly recruited teachers to support to developmental giants of the Governor in the education sector.
It will be recalled that on assumption of office, the Governor Dr Alex Otti allocated 20% of the State Budget to educate sector a feet that has received both local and international commendation.
Following a number of policies introduced in the education sector by Dr Alex Otti led administration, the Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu while briefing Newsmen during the outcome this week’s exco meeting presided over by the Governor announced a 100 percent increase in enrollment into Public Schools across the State.
The Commissioner for Information, attributed the increase to the Reforms being implemented including the Recruitment of Teachers and listed other factors to include introduction of Free Education in Primary and Junior Secondary School, regular payment of Teachers Salaries, Financial compensation for Teachers posted to rural areas, increase in the retirement age of Teachers from 60 to 65 years.
He further attributed the current success to the regular Training and Retraining of Teachers, improvement in the Learning Environment and adoption of new Curricular for Schools among others.
At the closing ceremony of the intensive Capacity training program the teachers expressed excitement and appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for his visionary investment in digital education.
They also thanked the Governor for equipping them with 21st century pedagogy and digital teaching knowledge in their profession and promised to utilize the enlightenment opportunity as well as teach others.
