Caucus zones next Abia State PDP Chairmanship position to Abia North, BoT Chairman ( Senator Wabara ) endorses
As the tenure of the Executives of the Abia State PDP Chapter elapses next month , the state Caucus of the party has
adopted the extant zoned the next State chairmanship of the party to Abia North Zone including other party offices to be contested for in the coming Congress based on rotation among the three senatorial zones of the state namely ; North, Central and South as was the cases in the past.
The Chairmanship had rotated among the North, Central and South zones by senator Emma Nwaka, Johnson Onuigbo and Dr Allwell Okere respectively in that order.
The zoning and rotation of offices arrangement which was re-endorsed by the State Caucus during a recent meeting, was said to be in line with the Constitution of the PDP and ” as a measure to ensure that all zones in the state are equitably represented and carried along at all times”
A release issued by the state Vice Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary Elder Abraham Amah after the Caucus meeting stated that all the party positions presently held by the outgoing Executives from Abia South Zone including that of the state Chairman, will go over to Abia North.
Also that all the positions presently held by Abia North Zone members will go to Abia Central while all the positions presently held by Abia Central Zone members will go over to Abia South members.
The release stated that the motion for this re-adoption of this zoning arrangement for the election of the next state executives in the coming Congress, was moved during the Caucus meeting by Hon Chikwendu Kanu, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, and was seconded by the former Senate President Dr Adolphus Wabara, who is the current PDP BoT Chairman.
Mouths are already wagging that Elder Abraham Amah, the outgoing state Vice Chairman ( North ) / Acting state Publicity Secretary for more than two years now, who also hails from Abia North, is being urged to declare for the Chairman position.
Amah has over 30 years experience during which he won election into the state house of assembly, held state party chairman position, Adviser to two state governors at different times, stood and stands firm with the PDP among others.
A top member of the PDP Ambassador Nwaigwe John Sunday who described himself as a passionate member of the PDP in his article opined that at this point PDP in Abia State is looking for a replacement for the outgoing State Chairman Dr Alkwell Okere, ” it is pertinent that we elect Elder Amah who is the best man for the job, done it before and has the requisite knowledge, experience and capacity it takes to be the Abia State the Chairman of PDP at this time that the party is loosing members”.
He attested that with Elder Amah , the PDP made tremendous progress during the 1999 election, securing seats at the state house of Assembly and many LGAs and has remained vocal, courageous and fearless in speaking truth to power since PDP lost election in 2023 general elections unlike other party leaders that hid themselves after the party’s loss of the election and became ashamed”.
